Some products show up because somebody picked a plaid, slapped it on a shirt, and called it a day.

The Paloma Bamboo Short Sleeve from Divided Flannel Co. is not one of those products.

According to Divided owner Jimmy Villareal, the Paloma was more than a year in development before it reached customers. Two releases in, you can see why: this is not just a shorter version of a regular flannel. It’s a platform for different designs, collaborations and stories.

You can browse the current Divided Flannel Co. collection at Flannel Daddy Loot.

YANA: The First Paloma

The first release was the YANA — You Are Not Alone — Bamboo Short Sleeve, created through a collaboration between Divided Flannel Co. and the Iroquois Center for Human Development.

The message was simple:

You Are Not Alone.

Mental health conversations do not always start in an office. Sometimes they start with a friend checking in, a post somebody reads at the right moment, or even a shirt that starts a conversation.

The YANA Paloma was released in men’s and women’s versions as a limited collaboration and is still listed through Divided Flannel Co., Clutch & Throttle, and Flannel Daddy. You can also shop the YANA — You Are Not Alone Collection here.

Then Came the Lids

Jimmy teamed up with Samuel Jesse Garcia, owner of Clutch & Throttle, to create matching snapbacks.

Sam builds lids around the flannel instead of simply finding a hat in roughly the same colors. The embroidery, under-brim graphics, enamel pins and small details make the cap feel like part of the release. That same idea is what I get into in the Flannel Daddy guide to pairing Clutch & Throttle lids with flannels.

That partnership makes sense from where I’m standing because Flannel Daddy is an authorized retailer for both Divided Flannel Co. and Clutch & Throttle.

Jimmy builds the flannel. Sam builds the lid. I somehow keep finding shelf space.

Occupational hazard.

The Paloma Comes Back With Seppuku

Now we’ve reached the next Paloma release: Seppuku.

Same bamboo short-sleeve foundation. Completely different personality.

Shop the men’s Seppuku bamboo short sleeve or the women’s Seppuku bamboo short sleeve directly while current sizes are available.

The gray, black, white and hot-pink plaid is hard to miss, and once again there are matching snapbacks to complete the drop.

Seeing YANA followed by Seppuku makes the bigger idea clearer: the Paloma is a canvas. Different plaid. Different story. Same foundation.

If Seppuku is the one you came looking for, shop the Seppuku collection while current inventory is available.

Why Bamboo?

Bamboo short sleeves have carved out their own spot in the modern flannel world because they keep the plaid and structure people want in a package better suited to warmer weather.

That matters out here in California.

I love flannels. I’m also not interested in dying of heatstroke for fashion.

There are limits.

If you’re comparing cuts across the store, the Men’s vs Women’s Flannel Fit Guide is the practical place to start.

Two Releases In, and I’m Paying Attention

YANA introduced the Paloma with a message that meant something. Seppuku showed how dramatically the same platform can change with a different design.

That makes me interested in what Jimmy does with number three.

And if Jimmy and Sam keep pairing these shirts with matching Clutch & Throttle lids, Flannel Daddy is probably going to keep finding room on the shelves somehow.

Probably.

Josie is going to read that and tell me there is absolutely no more room.
